My name is George Dishon. Firstly, I would wish to thank The Rockefeller Foundation, Microsoft Corporation, The County Government of Kiambu and ACWICT for the skills and knowledge you have impacted on me through the Vusha Youth Empowerment Program.
After clearing high school education, I had no idea where to get the money to further my education. So I began working at construction site where where I used to earn a wage of Ksh. 300 bob. I decided to save half of the money because I wanted to study computer packages and enroll to a driving school. When I heard about the Vusha YEP from a friend, I developed an interest because I thirsted for knowledge in ICT, and furthermore the training center was near to home hence it allowed me to save on fare. After I graduated on 17th April 2015, the skills and certification enabled me secure a job at NEST SACCO LIMITED at Uthiru.
My main responsibilities include computer maintenance and repair and networking. The skills that I used at work would not have been made possible were it not for Vusha YEP. So far I earn a total of Ksh 10,000 monthly. I have invested part of the money on an agribusiness project, the entrepreneurship skills that I earned from the Vusha Program are already playing out because, I also maintain books which allow me to monitor the progress of the business.
My future plan is to further my education in CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, this will me join tech savvy companies with in and outside the country, and at the same time sell my services to those in need of it.
