Girls Of Vision

Overview

ACWICT in partnership with theGlobalGiveBackSacco has over the last five years implemented the Girls of Vison program. The main objective was to rescue marginalized young women who constantly face various social and discriminatory biases from an environment that might lead to cases of early pregnancy, extreme cases of poverty due to lack of education, and gender-based violence.

GOALS

Program Aim

The partnership aims to address this intervention by providing a safe space or a ‘rescue center’ where young women from high-risk areas can be able to find a safe haven. During their stay at the rescue center, the young women are empowered with up to date Digital skills that not only focus on the digital literacy agenda but also look into how they can be introduced to and mentored as they look into the possibility of joining the Digital workspace through Micro-work. In addition, empowering them with knowledge in Life skills and HIV prevention and entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. With our partnership growing strong over the years our hope is that we continue to play a leading role in helping young women in the county of West-Pokot to access education, employability and entrepreneurial opportunity with the program has reached over 500 beneficiaries to date
