Ajira Digital Program

Overview

Ajira Digital Program is an initiative of the Government of Kenya (MoICT) implemented in partnership with the Kenya Private Sector Association (KEPSA) with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation. ACWICT successfully implemented the first phase of the Ajira Digital Program between April 1, 2017, and March 31, 2018. The training was delivered at Kenyatta University in Nairobi and the Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST) in Nakuru. New/inexperienced online workers were equipped with basic soft skills and introduction to online work skills, digital marketing and basic financial management skills; while experienced online workers were trained on entrepreneurship and scaling opportunities for their online businesses.

The program aimed at introducing young people to online work and providing tools, training and mentorship they need to work and earn an income with dignity, thereby achieving the country’s objective of a globally competitive knowledge-based middle-income economy in an increasingly digital world.
