Overview

The EmployMentor project was a Microsoft Global Finance Community Impact initiative implemented in Kenya in partnership with The African Centre for Women, Information and Communications Technology (ACWICT)The goal of the project was to enable 150 young women graduates/near graduates of Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Technology and Software Engineering from public/private universities in Kenya to succeed in job placements and entrepreneurship endeavours via Skype 1:1 mentorship, a week-long face to face training dubbed “the EmployMentor week” coupled with post training job placement support. 

Our Approach

WecreatedaSkype1:1 mentorship, a week-long face-to-face training dubbed “the EmployMentor week” coupled with post-training job placement support. The one-week-long project attracted a total of 376 young womenfrom26 public/private universities in Kenya. A few applications were received from universities within Eastern Africa region, India, and the United Kingdom. The EmployMentor Week was implemented at Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.
